I don’t usually comment/ judge people’s lies, as they say ‘Fake it till u make it’, however, I find ur lies are extremely irritating and annoying, as there is no such a thing of making it in them.

Would u be able to answer few simple things like, if u really had an offer from any of the Ivy League uni,
1. Is that ur PhD a course based, or research based
2. If it’s a course based, what are the courses u are going to take for the first semester
3. If it’s a research based, what’s ur research topic
4. What’s ur TOEFL score

Tbh, based on all ur posts, u don’t even feel like someone in the upper middle class, nor these mega rich. At least no one in my circle would behave anything like u. My direct manager who owns a mansion worth like 3-4 mill and a horse farm, would nvr be fussy abt a new phone he bought. On the other hand, some real PhDs I knew of, would have zero time to post these day dreaming posts every now and then.

Tbh, u should really stop posting these daydreaming post, as they are not going to get u anyway, and go and c a psychologist.

PS, I assume u can understand the above, if u really got an offer from one of the Ivy League unis.

I am not the op but since it is MLK, why not reply for fun. Btw, I am not endorsing anything from the op because I do not know who he is. But I really want to reply to your post.

Is there any PhD program in North America not research based? The abbreviation PhD itself speaks. Other doctorate program like MD, JD may be or most likely is course based. But PhD should always be research based. With that being said, how would TOEFL matter? Language is important, in terms of communcation. But a high score in a language exam tells nothing about a person's research potential.

A 3 - 4 mm house also means nothing, either in US or in China. For sure the owners are not poor but using it as example to show how rich people behave does not seem convincing. Regardless, I am not saying it is appropriate to show off through a Rolex. But it's the same as your post, where some random observations from so call "rich" people are used to prove that op is wrong. Probably neither is right.

Lastly, I see no point of using English to comment in a forum where most users are Chinese. This reminds me of early days in Zhihu, when people implicitly show superiority of replying in English.

How I understand is that if u apply any uni in the states from any none English speaking country, there is minimum English requirement, that’s where all English test coming from.

Also I am just making fun of the op, as he mentioned in his old post there is a tution fee for his phd, so I don’t know what kind phd that would be? As all PhD I know is fully funded through scholarship, so his PhD could be a course based from a doggy uni, no one would know.

Really? 3-4 mil mansions means nothing, I don’t what kind of profession or industry you are in, even to me, that’s a lot money, and not to mention he also has a horse farm, and everyone knows how expensive to keep these horses.

I don’t usually do this, but I just want to troll OP here

Cool cool. But could asking a person's TOEFL score really tell if the person has applied to a graduate program? Maybe it works when face to face so that he has no time to google for it.

而且看你问的问题我真的觉得可笑，你真的在美国念过书吗？我是不知道PhD居然还有授课制的？就好像这论坛曾经有个傻逼和我说他同学可以从一年制水硕转哥大PhD一样荒唐可笑

当然，TG成绩只是必要不充分条件，你TG分数高也不一定代表人家想要你，毕竟PhD主要还是看学术水平。但是你TG分数低，除非你能在nature/ science/ cell这种一流学术期刊上有多篇paper，不然申藤校级别的PhD确实难，我当初申UPenn的时候也是因为我TG分数高外加背景好，有2篇paper。最关键的是有认识的同学帮我和教授陶瓷哈哈哈嗝，申PhD这种事运气也很重要
